This dress is inspired by history, royalty, and Irish Dance.

Irish Dance is my passion and being Scottish is my heritage. I chose Mary, Queen of Scots as my inspiration. She is Scottish, like my heritage. She wore beautiful, bejeweled clothes, I wear bejeweled solo dresses. She was powerful and strong; I dance with power and strength.

My design attempts to show a solo dress inspired by the royal fashions of her time.

The shoulder and back design are meant to look like a stole and cape. The front design incorporates a dragonfly, which tells part of my family’s story. The design is meant to be shades of emeralds, greens, and golds. I tried to incorporate all-over jeweled fabric, much like I would imagine a royal to wear.

If my design is chosen to be created, I would love to incorporate more embroidery in addition to the thistles, to showcase my story, much like Mary, Queen of Scots did with her embroidered tapestry.


While my design is truly just an idea and sketch made with my own artistic limitations, I know the Elite team could take my vision and create a modern masterpiece.
