2020 CLRG Worlds

The 50th CLRG Worlds will be held at Convention Centre Dublin, returning to the city where the inaugural championship was held in 1970.

James McCutcheon, Championship Chairman, An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) commented, “We are especially delighted that our flagship event is returning to the capital city, exactly 50 years after our inaugural championships in 1970 in Coláiste Mhuire in Parnell Square Dublin. The event attracts every top flight dancer from across the globe, each hoping to be crowned World Champion. We certainly look forward to the wonderful welcome that awaits us at Easter 2020, when all roads will certainly lead to Dublin”.

The prestigious event is expected to attract over 5,500 competitors across solo, céilí, figure-choreography and dance drama categories as well as 15,000 spectators, comprising teachers, family and supporters, generating in the region of €14 million for the local Irish economy.

Centrally located in the Dublin Docklands, the venue sure to be very popular with those visiting Dublin. Facing the River Liffey and a 15 minute walk from Dublin city centre, the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) is easily accessible by public transit and only a short distance from the popular Epic The Irish Emigration Museum.  Adrienne Clarke, Head of Conference Sales at The CCD added, “We are thrilled to be hosting such a prestigious event, particularly on the 50th anniversary. Our purpose is to ‘set the stage to welcome the world to Ireland’ and the World Irish Dancing Championships is a very fitting event to showcase this. Support OPERATION SHAMROCK

OPERATION SHAMROCKOperation Shamrock

Operation Shamrock is an IDTANA (Irish Dance Teacher's Association of North America) outreach program that operates when a natural disaster or emergency affects the Irish dance community. Its creation was a response to the devastation of Hurricane Sandy on the eastern United States Irish dance community in 2012. Throughout North America, there was a strong desire to support Irish dance teachers, their studios and their dance families affected by this natural disaster. Through the sales of Operation Shamrock pins and other charity events, assistance was given to those dealing with Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath.
