At my school, in second grade we had to learn how to play chess. Chess was always very boring to me, and I didn’t really like playing it. Playing chess just felt like another chore. My teacher told me that I needed to imagine what it would be like to play in the actual chess game. I imagined all of the nights on their horses and the pawns ready to battle, and at the other end of the board was a huge treasure. That’s what this dress is about. Half of it represents a chess board and the other half represent the treasure I saw when I imagined playing in the chess game.
